Catholic Social Teaching is at the heart of what we do and who we are.

We are the official aid agency for the Catholic Church in England and Wales. We believe our Catholic values are best shown through our love for others, and by working for justice and an end to poverty. Through education we aim to tackle the way that people live and act in order to make them more aware of the issues that surround them. Through our educational resources we reach out to children and young people to be the change they want to see in their communities and worldwide. Inspiring and supporting them to put Catholic Social Teaching into action.

Catholic Social Teaching is a core vision of Catholic education

The National Framework for the Inspection of Catholic Schools, Colleges and Academies (2022) states that in an outstanding school, "the school community is committed to following the teaching and example of Jesus as expressed in the Gospels, the social teaching of the Church and the school's own particular charism."

Its importance is also recognised in "To know You more clearly", the Religious Education Directory for Catholic schools, colleges, and academies (2023) which states that an aim of religious education is "to present an authentic vision of the Church's moral and social teaching to provide pupils with a sure guide for living and the tools to critically engage with contemporary culture and society."
